Q.1 What is a visa?
Ans A visa is a sticker affixed in your passport by an Embassy or Consulate or at the border. It authorizes the bearer to stay in or travel through one or more countries during a limited and specified period. Under the Schengen Agreement, visas issued by the Schengen countries are generally valid throughout the Schengen area
 
 
Q.2 What is a Schengen Visa?
Ans The Schengen visa was introduced under the Schengen Agreements. It is valid in all the Schengen countries and authorizes the bearer to stay in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days within a six-month period starting from the date of first entry into the area
 
 
Q.3 I am traveling to multiple Schengen countries. From which Consulate should I apply for my Schengen visa?
Ans Schengen visa must be applied from The Embassy / The Consulate of the country where you will be staying for maximum number of days. If your stay has equal number of days in each country then you must apply to The Embassy / The Consulate of the country which would serve as the first port of entry.
 
 
Q.4 What travel insurance do I need to submit?
Ans Any individual wishing to enter the Schengen area (including France) with this type of visa must also be able to prove that they have taken out valid travel insurance, either individual or group insurance, covering the cost of repatriation on medical grounds, urgent medical treatment and/or urgent hospital treatment. The insurance must be valid throughout all of the Schengen countries and must cover the whole duration of the stay. The minimum cover is EUR 30,000.
 
 
Q.5 Do I need to take an appointment for the submission of documents at France Visa application center?
Ans No, you do not need to take any appointment for the submission of the documents. But you need to pay the visa fee and the service charge before the submission of the documents at our center.
 
 
Q.6 Where can I pay the visa fee and service charge?
Ans To submit the documents at the Visa application centre, applicants can pay the visa application fee and services fee at the bank teller counter at the Visa Application Centre, Lagos
 
 
Q.7 Do I need to apply personally?
Ans Applicants need to submit their documents either personally or can send representative with proper prescribed authority letter.
 
 
Q.8 What should I do after submitting the Visa application?
Ans Log on to the website, www.france-ng.com or call our Contact on 01 8990285 to check your application status. It is advisable to check the application status only after the average processing time mentioned by the officer.
 
 
Q.9 Will I be called for an interview?
Ans Consulate General of France, Nigeria call all the applicants for a personal interview. After submitting application at VFS centre, applicants need to come to visit Consulate, carrying original documents the very next day of his/her submission or the day Consulate prefers.

VFS will schedule an interview for applicant and will fix the visiting time for the next day to visit the consulate for interview and biometric or the day Consulate prefers.
 
 
Q.10 Where do I need to go for the interview?
Ans You need to go to the following address:

Q.11 What do I need to carry for the interview?
Ans Interview letter (visa fee receipt) and all the original documents, the copies of which are being submitted with the application at VFS.
 
 
Q.12 Where do I collect my passport from after the visa has been processed?
Ans Applicants who have submitted their application at the Visa application center Lagos can collect the passport from the application center after 10 days from the date of submission. The collection timing is 11.00 AM - 4.00 PM (Monday-Friday except holidays). Applicants’ need to bring their receipt that was issued to them at the time of submission of visa application.
 
 
Q.13 Can some one else collect my passport on my behalf?
Ans Yes, the applicant may send his / her representative along with a proper prescribed authority letter to collect the passport from the application centre
 
 
Q.14 Do listed corporate will have separate timings?
Ans No, they will have same timing but will have separate pr-scrutiny and banking window and will be treated on priority.

PROCESS


Applicants are requested to read the following steps carefully before submitting their application at the France visa application center, Lagos.

Step 1
Applicants are required to submit their applications personally or through a representative with proper prescribed authority letter at the VFS France Visa Application centre in Lagos.

Step 2
Make a clear copy of all the original documents, previous UK, US, Canada, Japan and Schengen visas and three clear copies of passport data page.

Step 3
Complete the visa application form. You can download the application form from our website.

Step 4
Pay your visa application fee and service fee at the Sterling Bank teller counter at the Visa Application Centre.

Step 5
Along with your application form and documents mentioned on this site you can come to our application centre or send your representative with prescribed authority letter at the visa application centre between 08.00 AM to 1.00 PM (Monday - Friday, except the holidays observed by the France Consulate General and Federal Government of Nigeria)
Especially for collecting a passport on behalf, a prescribed authority letter (As Given) to be produced at VFS France Visa Application Centre.The print can be taken of this letter after being downloaded and can fill in.
Please be informed,VFS can refuse to handover the passport to a representative if the authority letter is not produced as per the prescribed format.

Step 6
After applying at VFS centre, Applicants need to visit the Consulate General of France, Lagos for Interview and biometric the very next day or the day Consulate prefers. The interview time will be scheduled at VFS centre only.
